Re: TransCanada to build pipeline for Shell LNG plant
Hey, British Columbians, let’s watch our governments, our regulators, and these corporations be really stupid about these pipelines!
TransAlta already owns a small and underutilized gas pipeline that already services the communities west of Prince George to Prince Rupert and Kitimat, including Alcan.
Apache/EOG/Encana want to build the Pacific Trail Pipeline to Kitimat for their Kitimat LNG project (EA approval was obtained a few years ago, and their permit applications have recently been submitted the Oil and Gas Commission).
TransCanada wants to build this new gas pipeline to Kitimat for the Shell LNG project.
If Shell is serious about coalbed methane in the Klappan, its going to need another pipeline to get that gas to Kitimat too.
And the ugliest of them all: Enbridge and its pair of tar sands pipelines to/from Kitimat – the Northern Gateway project.
Call it “Ladyferning” – when the oil and gas industry swarm a situation and with the sanction of the regulators, screw it up.
Why don’t we tell all these players to get their effing acts together and co-operate on a proposal that makes more sense than this proliferation of steel that’s will happen if we simply let our regulators and corporations “manage” it all.
