BC NDP rearranges critics
Carol James has rearranged her critics.

Some of the appointments are good ones.
Best one, from my point of view, is that Malahat - Juan de Fuca MLA, John Horgan, is now energy critic, taking over from Corky Evans.
John Horgan knows the energy portfolio better than most of us. Corky Evans did nothing with the opportunity.
Horgan will frequently find himself between rocks and hard places. On the one side will be the growing progressive energy lobbies in BC, conservationists and environmentalists; on the other will be the NDP positioning itself not to offend anyone in the next election.
It doesn't work for Carol James to be attempting to warm up to the mining industry, and John Horgan coming out strongly against expanded coal mining or even coal-fired generation. His biggest dilemma may be Site C. No government or government wannabe is going to foreclose on the Site C option, by opposing it. Yet we should expect the NDP ensure the Liberals and BC Hydro don't get this one, not without a fight.
