Kitimat LNG Terminal

Acknowledging Community Support

On June 6, 2006, Kitimat LNG inc. received an Environmental Assessment Certificate from the Province of B.C., in large measure due to the support shown by the community of Kitimat and the Haisla First Nation.

Two years ago, Kitimat LNG Inc. came to the Kitimat community with an idea — to build a liquefied natural gas terminal and regasification facility on the Douglas Channel. We were in a race, with room for only one or two projects on the Pacific Coast of North America.

We talked with the community. We listened. We worked to build your confidence in our project and trust in our company. We needed to gain your support.

Thankfully, we have earned your support and the Kitimat LNG Terminal project is now able to move forward. With the provincial EA Certificate in place and federal environmental approval expected soon, our project is ready to go. We anticipate initial site preparation in the fall, with project completion scheduled for 2009.

We appreciate the time and energy the communities have put into our project. We remain committed to being a valued partner with you and ensuring the environmental commitments we’ve made are fully realized.
