DAWSON CREEK -- The B.C. Oil and Gas Commission has approved EnCana
Corp.'s application for a $60-million natural gas processing plant in the province's northeast.
The Steeprock Gas Plant would be built 50 kilometres south of Dawson Creek to process natural gas produced by EnCana's wells in the Bissette, Cutbank Ridge and Kelly Lake areas.
Plans are for the plant to process 198 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Vice-president Mike McAllister said the plant will enable EnCana to process growing volumes of natural gas produced in northeast B.C. more efficiently.
Site clearing and grading work at the site is scheduled to begin in early February with construction slated to begin later in the month. The plant is expected to provide about 15 permanent jobs.
